A Tropical Instagram
Instagram became increasingly popular just as adults were joining the Facebook community. Generations can post pictures and they get put onto a timeline where your followers can scroll through their feed and see what people are doing. As it has less words dealing with it, it is easy to work and fun to look through. This visual driven social media platform can be used in many different ways but people usually have a theme to their page. The goal is to gain the most likes on a post so in order to do this, people usually edit their pictures to make them look cooler. This is a feature that Instagram provides which allows the users to increase brightness and color or it also has preset filters that adds different tones to the picture. Other people may post pictures of themselves doing fun activities so it looks like they have an interesting life.
Twitter and Instagram are almost complete opposites; as twitter mostly deals with written posts. On both platforms you can use the feature of hashtags, however Instagram provides an explore page where you can see what people are posting (if they are on the public setting) who you don't even follow. This increases the likelihood that you may follow that person if you like the pictures they post. The fact that Instagram is simple to use and to gain followers, there becomes a desire of being popular to the internet world.
In the reading, Brock states how, "our online persona is the uneasy reconciliation of offline multiplicity and online fixity." He is accurate in this statement because some people really do have a different personality on their social media. This is because of the fact that you can really post anything which can lead to things such as cat fishing. As a person in their early twenties, it is evident that in the people that I follow there is a strong trend in posting pictures that provide a tropical sense. Showing up more in female users, many want their page to show that they go to cool, exotic places or even post pictures that show they have money whether that deals with cars or expensive clothes. Traveling is a big trend not only in the physical world for the experience, but for the social media aspect as well. People wanting to show off what they have is something that a lot of people in this generation do whether they know they are doing it or not. Here, some people become their own type of 'models' posing for their pictures in these tropical places.

Here is an example of Alexis Ren, who is an "Instagram model" and this is where I believe this sense of a traveling instagram started. She travels all around the world and takes pictures, sometimes nude, in these places. Alexis has a large amount of followers which may translate to some girls, that posting these types of pictures will get you more followers as well. This type of Instagram culture has created a standard for girls of all generations craving that desire of not only traveling but gaining the attention from others.
